Rosters, Schedule, Rules and Driving Directions |
Get ready for baseball in Arizona this coming January! We are pleased to announce the first annual "Melee at Mesa" Fantasy Baseball Tournament from January 26-29, 2006. We have acquired the use of the three-field Gene Autry Sports Complex in Mesa, Arizona for this event. The complex has served as the minor league home for the Angels for several years, but fantasy baseball will take center stage on our weekend.
BASEBALL ROSTERS, SCHEDULE, RULES, AND DRIVING DIRECTIONS
For our inaugural event, eight teams will be participating:
Three Giants teams
Two Angels teams
One Padres team
One Yankees team
One Dodgers team
Each team will play two games on Friday, one on Saturday, and one on getaway day, Sunday. Those looking to catch flights on Sunday will be able to make a 4pm flight. To get all the games in on time, we will employ the following rules:
Games will be restricted to two hours and 30 minutes each (if an inning starts before the time limit, it can be completed)
Players will use wood bats (exceptions being ladies and players 60 years of age and older)

The
concession stand will be open for all three days. The stand will open around
7:30am and stay open all day. The normal menu is donuts, pop-tarts, candy, hot
dogs, pizza, pickles, sodas, gatorade, popcorn, hot chocolate and coffee.
The Gene Autry Sports Complex is owned and operated by the City of Mesa. While on the grounds of the facility, there is NO SMOKING, NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOL, and NO PETS. Please abide by these rules or we may lose our playing privileges at the complex for now and future dates.
As of right now, there are NO shower facilities at the sports complex. Consider this on Sunday when coordinating your game schedule and hotel checkout.
THURSDAY SCRAMBLE GOLF TOURNAMENT AND DINNER
Before we get started with our baseball, several campers will be organizing a golf tournament on Thursday, January 26th. We will be playing at the Arizona Golf Resort within the Mesa city limits. There is room for 60 players in the tournament. The deadline to signup for this event is January 15th. We will have a 1pm 'shotgun' start so those of you who want to play can still fly into Arizona on Thursday morning. All tournament players, significant others, and guests are welcome to play. The tournament will feature a scramble format so it doesn't matter how good or bad a golfer you are. Just come out and have some fun!
$100 is the cost per golfer and that buys you the following:
Green fees
Cart
Bucket of range balls
BBQ dinner afterward (extra dinners for non-golfers are $20 each)
Prizes
15 sets of rental golf clubs are available for $25 each. Call in advance to reserve.
IMPORTANT : Golf is being coordinated by a separate group of campers and should be paid for separately from your baseball fees. First 60 players to signup are in!
Please send checks made payable to:
